Cascading sheets that fall as pelting rain,
Thunderous lightning bellows in refrain.
Cycling onward- spout great dorsal wake,
Reverberations make land and sky quake.
Flashes illuminate purple prairie,
Though I’m imperiled feeling quite merry.
Quake, shiver in your domestic dry home;
Challenging the elements as I roam.
Streets turned to rivers, looks of disbelief;
Sensible actions steel joy as old thief.
What madman laughs at heaven’s thunderbolts?
From quiet desperation I revolt.
Life can be short and full of tedium,
Summer storms at night not baby’s pablum.

It was a fantastic ten minute bike ride home at night in crazy weather!
I don’t usually ride on the sidewalk but I did for this. Even though I had two powerful lights I couldn’t see very far ahead- except when the lightning flashed.
Be sure to give Paddy a piece of my mind.

Sissy! I know the 30 30 lightning rule and preach it but don’t abide by it. I am moving to the death by lightning strike capital of the USA, maybe I’ll rethink my lightning misbehavior.
