Des Moines Home
Six simple wooden walls painted dull gray,
Hercule’s labor on long summer day.
Mountain of chaff sifted down to some wheat,
House is a home now on old quiet street.

Rented U-Haul truck with Dad at the wheel;
Directed, toted, provided a meal.
Most of our furniture once his and Mom’s,
Provided to us as mendicant’s alms

Bride of thirty five days makes life complete;
Pray our foundation proves strongest concrete.
Hard work and love here on Iowa’s plains,
Life ahead surely holds setbacks and gains.

Labor’s no struggle when achieved with love,
Pray life is filed with thanks for Lord above.
