Pablum in small amounts,
Wards off choking; thought renounced.
Words that I long to say
Must be stifled; games we play.

Two steps forward, eyes wide shut;
Fear so thick, quite the glut.
Nothing new under the sun,
Still they all turn and run.

Nonconformists, just like me-
Helpless all, long for free.
Key is there in our own minds,
Light of day makes us blind.

Cast off blinders, embrace light
We cower; dark of night.
Why the eye roll? Heavy taunts?
Hemlock tea, drink that haunts.
