Each embattled fortress
that defends foolish pride
Prevents us from swimming
Away from Man’s red tide

The barbs that pierce the skin-
That ooze and ulcerate-
Make keeping on painful
and reduce us to hate

Simple tests of courage
that we too often fail
As we defend honor
On microscopic scale

Offense that is searched for
Is oh so easily found
Brotherhood as weakness
Is logic quite unsound

Every petty worry
Each evil sinful deed
Must be answered fully
So we’re taught to believe

Imagine a moment
Ego of bigger man
One who smiles calmly
And brothers does not damn

Rattle not our sabers
Clamber no more for war
Pause before we strike out
Hear siblings’ loving roar
