Sacred cows and Brahma Bulls should not visit China shops
Herding cats and absolutes seems to be my thankless lot
Left or right, up or down we all gather round the flag
Challenges to status quo frequently goes really bad

See unfairness, point a finger, holler loud and smash a toe
Foot we step on, eye we poke, likely folks we love and know
Sands of time, tide of progress, often creep by far too slow
Can impassioned, hateful words, ever help make justice grow?

Condemnation harshly spoken seldom a soul can save
Vitriol Westboro Baptist depicts kind souls as knaves
Do we protest for change or just to hear our voices rave?
Rare is the man who through tongue lashing for better is changed

Sacred cows and Brahma Bulls should not visit China shops
Herding cats and absolutes seems to be my thankless lot
Many hours I have wept over conditions of my kin
I grow fat at the trough while gruel they’re eating’s might thin

Necessary and sufficient these are far from synonyms
All our screaming and our yelling won’t raise us up from sin
Vision from our unyielding, low hung, self-righteous perch
Here tethered to a stone never experience our worth

Nothing but black and white populates our contrasting minds
I see my truth you see yours, never upward can we climb
Trapped within our own frameworks we each point to others faults
Time to sweep away the zeitgeist and explore new gestalts

So parochial our perspective might just as well be blind
What we need is jubilation in differences divine
Sacred cows and Brahma Bulls should not visit China shops
Herding cats and absolutes seems to be my thankless lot
