Time of sorrow, deepest night
Flock is trembling in such fright.
All around us hate and war
Optimism, felt no more.
How the anguish and the grief
Steals our hope like a thief.
Frightened voices in despair
Long for solace, it’s not there.

What is reason for this fear;
That disturbs those far and near?
Amassed armies of the night
Encircling with hopes to smite.
Strike down freedom, hope and love
And enthrone war hawk for dove.
What can be done to stem the tide
So we no longer cower and hide?

Brothers, sisters, must take heart
And stand steadfast in loving parts.
Deny the wicked who engender hate:
Stoke freedom’s fire ‘fore it’s too late!
Those that proclaim chasm’s deep
Long to profane what justice reaps.
On the chess board so many pawns
That in submission commit such wrongs

So much hatred for our kin
Need the power to begin:
Begin to see that we’re all one;
Now’s the moment to mend riven!
Time of sorrow, deepest night
Flock is trembling in such fright.
All around us hate and war
Optimism felt no more.

How the anguish and the grief
Steals our hope like a thief.
All are brothers, surely so:
With our brethren must help peace grow.
We the many must take a stand
And drive dark evil from our fair land.
Reject commands to fear and hate
And pursue justice, it’s not too late.
