Oh, sweet sisters and bold brothers
here in the land of duck and cover.
Some see world of cops and criminals?
I see haters and I see lovers.

How quick are we to condemn them;
see others as vermin not as men.
The Boys in Blue should have our back,
think most do but some hearts are black.

Under stress, beneath great pressure;
count lives lost as worth of measure.
In less time than an eye wink
must make decision, no time to think.

I’m not down there under fire;
where death is cheap and lives expire.
Don’t claim to know what we should do,
just hate the bleeding red, white, blue.

But impudence and unneeded force
ends with young brothers in the morgue.
This double oh has got to go
License to kill must be revoked.

Every soldier’s not a hero;
lots of players gun totting zeros.
All suspects aren’t criminals:
Way too many on streets waging war.

Just skin color that’s black and white;
haters love to instigate fights.
No uniform defines the man.
How did we lose our compassion?

Oh, sweet sisters and bold brothers
here in the land of duck and cover.
Some see world of cops and criminals?
I see haters and I see lovers.
