Sweat of their brows they produced
great nation sea to sea
U.S. shining example
for whole damn world to see.
They didn’t ask for nothing
and nothing’s what they got,
put backs into their labors,
Nation is what they wrought.

Nation of truth and justice
for all within this land,
arrived forest primeval
civilized Indians.
Straight, but homogeneous,
each man’s chin held a cleft,
practiced olde time religion,
were always circumspect.

God was riverboat pilot,
as they explored the snags,
they went to church on Sundays
and as they worked they sang.
They sang Star-Spangled Banner,
God Bless America,
read Horatio Alger,
watched films of Frank Capra.

Squanto on turkey feasted,
savages shown the light,
John Smith’s miscegenation
on nation was a blight.
Should have made reservations
for Pocahontas’ tribe,
with George Donner to lead them
they could have dined in style.

Ancestors all were legal,
came via Ellis Isle,
year was sixteen-oh-seven
and they arrived in style.
Their passports were in order,
applied for their green-cards,
and they knew with God willing,
they’d make it if worked hard.

These dirty late arrivals,
brown skinned and foreign wayed,
think streets of America
with Fievel’s cheese are paved.
They come here with their hands out
think we owe them the world;
they got ‘nother think coming,
nation won’t imperil.

My forefathers were legal,
didn’t cross Rio Grande,
Destiny was Manifest,
forged nation with their hands.
Get in line Spanish speakers,
good luck Muhammadans,
we’re nation of white Christians
and won’t be overrun.

Sweat of their brows they produced
great nation sea to sea
U.S. shining example
for whole damn world to see.
They didn’t ask for nothing
and nothing’s what they got,
put backs into their labors,
Nation is what they wrought.
