“You’re just too expensive. You’re just not worth the cost. While your work shows promise your dismissal’s small loss. You are squarest of pegs and you see we’ve round holes: You’re just not a value… so we might let you go.”

I maintain plastered smile though arteries’ bleeding. I fear there’s little chance of message me heeding. I am not expensive at fourteen-fifty/hour and if I’m no value then get someone cheaper. Go get a new someone, smiling, bright youthful face. Or a shiny robot and my job just displace. I know I know nothing, I’m just flotsam in storm, but I don’t need your job so just leave me alone.

Team player is one thing but my life’s two-thirds done: I’ve zero desire work sans compensation. I’m in a position where I can volunteer. I’ll conform best I can but pay me or see rear.

If you’re feeling the pinch perhaps you need new shoes. Don’t conflate your problems into being my blues. A business ain’t family; know a business is team. Goal of all-star roster shoe-string budget’s just dream.

I’m up for improvement, for doing what I can, but when my shift’s over get to be my own man. Don’t need to be slaving with a grin on my face.

I’m here at your service, I’ll provide it posthaste. We all have our limits and you’re pushing mine, son. I’m ready to labor- provide compensation.
