Gabrielle’s sexual soothing had swept Bill to a place where his pain and fear was momentarily forgotten but when he awoke at three the next morning the reason for his dread flooded back to him and a full on panic attack had him bolt upright and covered in sweat. His son Sean was a captive in Syria and he had squandered irretrievable hours in selfish pleasure which should have been devoted to problem solving.
He looked over at Gabrielle’s nude and sleeping form and his heart ached. She was even more of a wonder than he had suspected and their two- or was it three? -sexual romps of the night before had truly been greater than his richest reoccurring fantasies. He smiled, kissed his finger tip and placed it on his lover’s cheek before exiting his bed, donning a robe and slipping into the tiny office that was adjacent to his bedroom. Once there he logged onto his computer and began searching for transportation to Istanbul. If Sean was in trouble then Bill Finger was a good man to have working on finding and rescuing him.
He nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt the soft touch on his shoulder, “Jesus!” he shouted. “You scared the crap out of me!”
Gabrielle stood next to him wrapped in nothing but her magnificence. “I’m sorry. I called your name from the bed and then followed the sound of typing to in here. I think I must have called out to you half a dozen times. Are you all right?”
“Don’t be sorry. You just startled me.” Turning in his swivel chair he pulled her into his lap. “I was working on getting to Turkey and rounding up some help for Sean. Thank you for last night by the way. Truly mind-blowing,” he added as he leaned in and kissed the nape of her neck.
“Yes, it was sweet. And you certainly needed something, or someone, to hold on to. What time is it?”
Bill looked at the time at the top of his computer screen and answered, “Not quite six. Wow. I’ve been here almost three hours. I gotta’ tell you I’m scared shitless about Sean. I should never have let him go but now I know what I need to do. I need to get him out of Syria.”
