You are strong. I’m in deep.
At you I peer and then weep.
What right have I to call you mine?
My strength’s near gone, while yours still climbs.
I’m not the man that you deserve
Have little strength held in reserve.
Both know it’s true though we don’t say
I fear my best has drained away.
Do you hold on for duty’s sake?
And resent the time I take?
I love you so, I always will
Fear I’ve become your bitter pill.
If I could find the me I was,
Return to him, earn back your love,
I’d pay the price, I swear I would,
But I’ve grown small while you’ve grown good.
And sunset into which we ride
For you still glows, though I’m no prize
Anymore.
